My mother Anne Heiss was ill for quite a while. A sudden turn for the worse occurred in 2017 and these photographs were made at various points in the final year of her life. My sister and I were at her side when she passed away, having spoken to my brother, her youngest son, shortly before by telephone. There is no right or wrong way of presenting such personal images. I change how they look and feel every so often as I change in my reflections of this loss of a beloved parent.
